About Us

Right to Life New Zealand is the web site for Right to Life New Zealand (Inc), a Pro-Life organisation based in Christchurch NZ

Our objects are:

  • To uphold and protect the inalienable God given right to life of all human beings from conception to natural death.

  • To vigorously promote the statutory recognition of the unborn child as a human being endowed with an inalienable right to life.

  •  To encourage and promote study and research and the collection and dissemination of information on the moral, medical, legal, political and social implications of pregnancy and questions associated therewith.

  • To inform and promote  the public on the need for legal and other safeguard for protecting the rights of unborn children.

  • To assist and promote  the well-being of mothers, fathers and children, both before and after childbirth, and in particular those who face adverse circumstances.

  • To co-operate with Government Departments, other organisations and individuals engaged in fostering respect for human life and in promoting social conditions which will provide the best opportunities for mothers and children.

  • To work purposefully towards, the achievement of the realisable ideal of no abortions within our society.

  • Right to Life New Zealand has over the last few years widened it's area of concern to other important life issues such as Euthanasia, Physician Assisted Suicide, Embryonic Stem Cell Research, Human Cloning, and and range of important social issues, including Prositution and the sexualisation of our nation's children.

What Can I do?

Maybe you are someone who is concerned about abortion, euthanasia and other life issues. Perhaps you have thought that as just one person there is not a lot you can do. The task of trying to preserve a respect for life, within a culture that is rapidly moving in the opposite direction, seems to be a daunting one. But is that a very good  reason for not becoming involved? (It needn't be in a big way.). The Pro-Life cause needs support.

If you would like to help, here are some ways that you might like to contribute.

  • Join Right to Life New Zealand. Joining details are provided on the membership form. (bottom of this page). We hope to have an on-line joining form in future but at present you will need to print the form and send it back (freepost) to the given address.

  • Writing letters to the editor of your daily newspaper is another powerful  way of raising the profile of pro-life issues within the public arena.

  • Ring or write to your local MP. Lobbying can have a powerful impact, as these are the people who vote for or oppose legislative change. If your MP knows your views on pro-life issues, they are more likely to consider them. Writing is probably the most effective way for your views to make an impact but also consider emailing (see below)

You can call MPs and leave messages at their offices to tell them your views, the main number at Parliament is (04) 471 9999 or look in your phone book for your local MP's number.

Writing is also effective and it is FREEPOST to write to any MP C/- Parliament Buildings, Wellington.

The following link will take you to a web site that gives you the contact telephone numbers and email addresses of all NZ MP's. Why not take 5 or 10 minutes to 'pen' a message?

NZ MP's contact details

  • Are you someone who likes to talk on radio talk-back programmes? Often this may be an opportunity to defend life and our societies founding values. The airing of views publicly, can have a wide influence.

  • If you are a Christian encourage your church priest, pastor or minister to preach about pro-life issues. Encourage your church to pray for unborn children and their mothers.

  • Make donations to a pro-life organisation such as Right to Life New Zealand. You can make a cheque out to Right to Life New Zealand Inc. and send it to PO Box 668, Christchurch, New Zealand.

These are just some of many ways that you as an individual can help. If you have any comments or you think you may be able to help please contact us.
